21 September 2009 : Help Is Coming For The Heroes
Further to our September 2nd article, the Football League have now announced their official nominated charity for the 2009-10 season. Following 25,000 votes from supporters, the top two charities voted for were Help for Heroes and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The Football League's board have consequently decided that Help for Heroes will be its nominated charity for this season, but have also decided that Marie Curie Cancer Care will be its chosen charity partner for the 2010-11 season.

Help For Heroes was established in 2007 and raises funds for all members of the Armed Forces injured whilst serving their country. The Football League have indicated that they will be distributing matchday tickets for members of the Armed Forces and their families throughout England and Wales in addition to their charity work. They will also give 300 servicemen VIP treatment at the three Play-Off Finals at Wembley in May 2010, including arranging a lap of honour for those present prior to kick-off.
