10 September 2009 : Saturday's Opponents Make Loan Signing
Saturday's opponents Stockport County have made a loan signing today. The player concerned is Leeds United defender Paul Huntington who has been on their books since signing from Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee in August 2007.

The 21 year old is already at Edgeley Park, training with their first team, and County are just waiting for their paperwork to be authorised by the Football League. They are currently operating under a transfer embargo due to still being in administration and so will need that to be confirmed before they can put him on the coach to South Somerset for this weekend's game.

County have received sad news today that striker and top scorer Carl Baker has suffered a family bereavement. His older brother had been suffering with leukaemia but passed away this morning. There's obviously been no mention yet whether the player is likely to travel down to Somerset for the weekend's game, with his family taking the greater priority at present.

Stockport have recently taken two other young players on loan, with 19 year old Nicholas Bignall arriving from Reading whilst 20 year old Chelsea midfielder Liam Bridcutt will need little introduction to Glovers fans, having finished the 2007-08 season on loan at Huish Park, clocking up nine appearances during his time with the club. Manager Gary Ablett told the Manchester Evening News that although both players came from different clubs, both were recommended to him by the same source:

"I think Nicholas is a great acquisition. I was aware of him and Liam Bridcutt through Brendan Rodgers who's now at Reading. I played against Brendan a couple of times last year with Chelsea and Liverpool reserves and Liam stood out in both games so he was someone I thought would benefit us if we could bring him in. And Nicholas has changed the game for us in terms of the way we play. He has a little bit of extra pace and he's looking to shoot all the time and be positive."

Two more names to watch out for on Saturday are winger David Poole and left-back Michael Rose. Both are regulars in the County line-up, and so should ensure that there are three former Glovers in the line-up for Saturday's game at Huish Park.
