League One side Colchester United have appointed Aidy Boothroyd as their new manager. Boothroyd replaces Paul Lambert at the Community Stadium after he controversially jumped ship for League One rivals Norwich City.
Boothroyd will be formally unveiled to the media at lunchtime today. As yet there's no length of contract revealed. The 38 year old left Watford last November after a poor start to their 2008-09 season, but had previously taken the Hornets to the Premier League in 2006 and the FA Cup Semi-Finals in 2007.
Boothroyd watched Colchester's JPT First Round match against Gillingham last night from the stands, but is expected to be in charge for their Saturday game against Southampton at St Mary's.
