Officials for Yeovil Town's Saturday home match against Leyton Orient have been announced. In charge will be Steve Bratt (West Midlands).
You'd think a referee with a surname like Bratt might be a bit of an irritance, but in all honesty, our five experiences have been relatively positive, particularly as two of the five games featured significant incidents which he seemed to deal with in a level-headed manner.
The November 2005 FA Cup match against Macclesfield Town saw him red-card Danny Swailes for deliberate handball inside the box. Then just over a year later he took charge of the 4-2 defeat against Port Vale, booking two players each, but having enough self-control to avoid reaching for his reds when Vale's players tried to provoke an on-pitch melee in the final minute after a Chris Cohen foul. The correct decision - a yellow card - was the outcome despite the histrionics of the home team.
His third involvement in a Yeovil match was the November 2007 match at the New Den against Millwall. The 2-1 defeat for the Glovers was not influenced by anything Mr Bratt was doing on the field of play. Then we had him again for the March 2008 win over Doncaster Rovers, with the referee again not warranting anything worthy of a mention.
Finally, and one we're somewhat loathe to mention, Mr Bratt was in charge of Yeovil Town's 5-0 thrashing by Brighton and Hove Albion in March 2009. Whilst he sent off keeper Josh Wagenaar during that match for a second bookable offence, we'd not dare to suggest that he had anything to do with the scoreline on a dreadful day.
Mr Bratt will be assisted by Brett Huxtable (Devon) and Brendan Malone (Wiltshire). The Fourth Official will be Neil Radford (Worcestershire).
