Yeovil Town manager Russell Slade talked to BBC Radio Bristol's Geoff Twentyman during the week leading up to the Nottingham Forest game in an interview conducted on January 11th 2007.

RS: Things are just going particularly well at the moment and probably against the odds in many ways. We've had one or two injuries and we've had one or two players called back from loans and again we go into Saturday's game with a couple of suspensions. The players that have come in have worked exceptionally hard. I think we have attitude and we have a good attitude on and off the pitch and that is the only recipe I can think of that has brought us the results that we've earned so far.

GT: You're fifth at the moment with 20 games to go. The games will just fly by because I know what the last 20 games of a football season are like. What do you expect from here on in, Russell?

RS: I think obviously that the middle third of the season is crucial. We've got four or five games before we go into the final third. Hopefully we can stay in that top six as we go into that final third and then we can see if we can push on from there. We'll get suspensions and things like injuries will play their part - that's for sure. We've got a small squad and we've only got 15 senior players available for Saturday and that gives you some idea of the pressure we are under in terms of bodies. But we're not going to panic. We've got a good squad and the players that go out there, as you saw on Friday night, are capable of scoring goals and producing good results.

GT: You must have a warm glow at the moment. I know there is a long way to go, but in terms of what you have achieved so far, you must get a good buzz from it.

RS: Yes, I am and I'm really satisfied. But I know that can easily blow up in your face. Things can change very very rapidly, sometimes on one result. So we're not taking anything for granted. We don't think we are owed anything and we are just working exceptionally hard to get what we can out of the season.

GT: Is a Top Six finish realistic?

RS: It has to be realistic because that is where we are now. But if we get in there then obviously we will be delighted. And once you are in there, you are probably 270 minutes from a chance of playing in the Championship and that has got to be the buzz. That has got to be the one thing, the dream, that keeps you going. That is what we are all trying to achieve.

GT: Do you find your opponents now give you a bit more respect and that you're now up there on merit and that you're staying up there in that Top Six. Do you sense more respect from the opposition?

RS: Certainly at home when teams are coming and setting themselves up to stop us a lot more than they were in the first part of the season. So that makes it difficult. On Friday in the Huddersfield game, they matched us up in the second half after we'd gone 3-0 up. So that was a little bit of respect and teams that have done that have made life a bit more difficult for us. But we have the personnel now to get those vital goals at crucial stages in the game. People like Marcus Stewart and Leon Best - hopefully we can keep him. I hope (Southampton manager) George (Burley) is watching this! We hope we can keep him a little bit longer and also Lee Morris is starting to hit his best form of the season. So that is all encouraging stuff.

GT: Forest next. That's a big game isn't it?

RS: Absolutely, as you know I'm from there and it's a big game for me going back to the club. There will be 20,000 fans there. It is a vital game for them too because they want to bounce back as they have just dropped out of the top two. So it is an incredibly important game but we are going there being confident and positive. It is a massive club. I'm sure Forest will get promoted. They are absolutely nailed on favourites for me. They have had a bit of a blip, but I'm sure they will come through it with Colin Calderwood and I'm sure that they will be there in the end.

GT: You go to win the match do you?

RS: Yes, I don't think I've got too much choice in that department! We will go to win. I want to play my forwards and I want to try and win the game. And to be honest I don't think we have ever gone to a place to not win there whatever shape we have gone with. Without saying too much we will go to Forest to try and bring back three points.

GT: When you go to big venues with big crowds, the first 10 or 15 minutes are crucial from your perspective aren't they?

RS: Massive. We don't want to lift the Forest fans. They've had a massive lift last week by beating Charlton, so if we can keep them quiet for at least 45 minutes then I will be the happier man going in at half time.

GT: Because they've got goals in them haven't they?

RS: They have yes, and they can make changes to get goals as well which is important at any level and certainly at this level. When you have got the likes of Jack LEster who can come on and people like Scott Dobie, Kris Commons and Junior Agogo - they are all potential goalscorers. So they are a good side and they've got a good squad together. I'm sure he is going to try and build on his squad and improve his squad as well. They are a big club and a great club and we'll have a lot of respect going there but we'll be doing our best to come away with something.

GT: If I was a betting man I wouldn't back a 0-0 result on Saturday, somehow or other.

RS: I think you're right - I do agree!
