Yeovil Town Caretaker Manager Neale Marmon spoke to BBC Somerset reporter Ed Hadwin just before kick-off against Crawley Town on Saturday 13th April 2019. Yeovil went on to lose the match by a 0-1 scoreline.

EH: Neale, I suppose given the way the last match ended, there's a bit of a high hopefully for the kick-off today.

NM: Definitely. Morale has been very good all week. Again it was only a point but it felt like a win at the end of the day because it was so late in the game. If people watched the game, the way the second half went, I think we played a very good second half.

EH: So no real surprise that you've kept faith with that team that did that job and finished the match.

NM: I've tried to keep a similar set-up right from the start. With the eleven that are playing today, 90 percent of them have played the last two or three games.

EH: Is that important when it's this pressurised, that for players that sort of familiarity helps a little bit?

NM: Well I try to take all of the shackles off anyway, and get all the players on the ball and be comfortable on the ball. It should be normal in the team that by the end of the week eight or nine players know that they're starting on the Saturday, and then the confidence rises even more.

EH: Is a big thing since you've been in charge here, trying to give those players the freedom to try to express. Is that something that you've stressed even more today, given the fact that as games run out, the pressure obviously externally ramps up a little bit?

NM: Generally if you're playing sport, if you're more relaxed you can perform better in your own qualities. Even before I started, I've seen the potential in the team anyway. We'd won four times beforehand. So I really knew with my coaching staff, that we wanted to pick up their confidence. I think it shows in their faces as well, and I hope they perform with confidence today.

EH: So Crawley are one of those teams that you can drag into it. Is that something that you're going to be telling the players before kick-off.

NM: Basically, Paul Terry did the analysis this week, and gave the players tools to work with that can help their performance. But we've been concentrating on ourselves.

EH: Walking out, I'm already seeing lots of flags outside. Atmosphere-wise how crucial is that going to be towards helping those players do that this afternoon?

NM: That's one of the points that we've been working on for the last few week, is the connection with the fans to help with that. It should be like that in a football club anyway, in my opinion. We've picked it up, and the fans like coming to watch training. So there's a bit of an attachment to the team. I think we're reaping the benefits.

EH: The positive is that if you win today, you could find yourself out of the bottom two and that's the goal for the next few weeks.

NM: Definitely - with the games there's only five to go, and three at home. Every time the team perform, if they can perform like they did in the 60 minutes against Newport, and in the second half against Swindon then the fans will see that the team are really really trying and doing their best. I hope the atmosphere at the Newport game will be there for every game.
