Yeovil Town Caretaker Manager Neale Marmon spoke to BBC Somerset reporter Ed Hadwin, after his side had lost 0-1 against Crawley Town on Saturday 13th April 2019.

EH: Neale that must have been a frustrating watch for you.

NM: Definitely. I was happy that it was 0-0 at half time because we were a bit too passive. I think we picked it up in the second half, and had those chances that we did have, but that 1-0 basically killed us. We did come back again and we tried really hard but it wasn't to be today.

EH: Passive was perhaps the word that I was looking for. It wasn't that you were playing badly. You just weren't affecting the game or forcing yourself on the game.

NM: We weren't producing any pressure at all. We were just sliding it across the pitch. We didn't let them have any chances (in the first half) or produce any shots on goal, but we didn't have any either. We picked up in the second half, and just in that phase where we had some momentum, they scored their 1-0.

EH: Obviously that wasn't what you set them out to do. What was that? Was it the pressure of the situation getting to the players?

NM: The players will answer that question. You saw them last week and they were playing with so much freedom in the second half. That was what we requested today that they played with freedom. Not being scared to get on the ball and keep the ball amongst ourselves, and keep creating chances. We didn't do that. We did in the second half, but that was basically just after the 1-0.

EH: It's not all down to one person. Daniel Ojo had a great game, but you've just got to keep your eye on your player, and it was a lovely finish from Filipe Morais.

NM: Yes, in the second game he played against Newport, he also squared off in a similar situation. We've shown him it on video, corrected it, but it ended in a mistake today.

EH: It's difficult because you've got a young squad. We've mentioned this all season but these are the kind of situations a lot of them won't have been in before.

NM: Obviously, it's with everything that you saw today. But I think the guys are the future of the club, and they will make mistakes at eighteen. That's normal.

EH: You had chances at the end there. It's one of those where if Adel Gafaiti gets that goal at the start of the second half, it's a completely different story.

NM: That's always been the same. We've always required a goal to get momentum. We looked a bit scared at 0-0 or at 1-0 down and I think that gone throughout the season. When we get a goal, we blossom again. We've got to get that goal, and that's important.

EH: Basically now every match that goes by, the pressure ratches up, so you've got to get some way of those players showing what they're capable of.

NM: Well basically the way you should look at it is that you've got nothing to lose. There's one or two of them where you'd say you might as well go out and play freely. But that's easier to say, than to do.

EH: Is it a case of being a psychologist over the next few days and trying to get into their heads, more than tactical things?

NM: I rarely change the way I go about things anyway. I try to keep my system, and have been successful doing it. I'll keep it going like we did in the last couple. We obviously stepped training up a bit, but we took it down a bit this week because we felt the boys were a bit tired in the first half at Swindon. But today there wasn't that much really going on.

EH: It's difficult to stay calm in situations like this. But is this a situation that you've had before? Does it help you in this tough set of circumstances?

NM: I as a player didn't like it when bosses were swinging around, because I just feel that you get a negative reaction. I try to stay calm and try to explain mistakes. But okay, everyone has got their own philosophy.

EH: As we're standing here now, there's four games left to go, are you still confident that you can still get yourself above that dotted line?

NM: I've seen it, since I've been around the building since January, that they can win games. If the games weren't tight then I wouldn't believe it. But I believe that they can still do it, yes.
