Liam Fontaine spoke to George Murray, Martin Baker, and Western Daily Press’ Steve Cotton after picking up a knock in the 1-1 draw at home to Bournemouth.
Qu: Do you think that we deserved a point today (against Bournemouth)?
LF: Yeah, without a doubt - they didn’t have many clear cut chances. In the second half I thought that we came strong again, as we do. I thought we deserved a point, if not the win - both teams had chances to win the game.
Qu: You picked up a knock during the game - will that keep you out of the Tranmere game?
LF: I hope not. The physio at first he thought it might have been ligaments but the doctor had a look at it and it has just been caught on the bone. It has just stiffened up. It should be settled down in forty-eight hours and I should be back to training.
Qu: In your initial loan move here last season, you only picked up a knock on your last game but this season has been a lot more frustrating for you injury wise.
LF: In my first loan move here, I played in every game. I think that I made eighteen appearances. I got a good run in the team this year but I did my ankle against Swansea, which was annoying as I thought that I was playing well. When you are out injured, you don’t feel like you are in the group. It takes a few games to get back to your normal self. This little injury will not harm me at all.
When I was out with an ankle injury, I wanted to stay around the lads so I could stay in with all the banter and that. But in the end I had to go back to Fulham because it wasn’t settling down and so I went back for a week and a bit.
Qu: What is your current loan situation?
LF: Doncaster is my last game officially with the loan but I don’t know what is happening with the loan yet. I think that the gaffer down here has been in touch with Fulham but Fulham are not getting back at the moment - so I don’t know what is going on.
Qu: Have you got a preference?
I just want to play as much first team football as I can.
Qu: Would you not rule out a permanent move to Huish Park?
LF: My contract is up at the end of the season and I would only consider permanent moves if Fulham were not to renew my deal. But at the end of the day, any player is going to try and stay at the highest possible club they can and with Fulham being in the Premiership, I am going to want to stay there if they want to give me a new contract.
Qu: Do you mind playing at left-back as that is not your first choice position?
LF: Everyone knows that I am a centre-back - it is my preferred position. Left-back is adding another dimension to my game. I do prefer centre-back but I am enjoying just playing the games.
