10 May 2009 : Club Announce Profit For Year Ended June 2008
Yeovil Town FC has announced a profit before tax of 28K for the year ended 30 June 2008. Turnover increased by 3%, year on year, to 4,015K but this included exceptional transfer revenue for Arron Davies and Chris Cohen.

However, operating costs increased by 6% which was partly due to the expansion of the Community initiatives and the creation of a Centre of Excellence meaning that profits were down by 85K compared with 2007.

Commenting on the results and the current trading conditions, Chief Executive, Martyn Starnes said "Unlike most clubs we managed to stay in the black in 2008 which was pleasing.

However, trading conditions in the current season have been considerably more difficult. League attendances have fallen for the third year in a row, there was no significant cup run and we have not received any revenue from player transfers.

"These issues combined with the general downturn in the economy have created an extremely challenging environment in which to operate.

"We have been conducting a review of the business over the last few weeks to identify areas where we can reduce costs but at the same time protect the football budget.

"We are confident that the actions we are taking to streamline the business together with the relatively strong financial position that we held before the recession will enable us to continue the Club's development despite the difficult economic situation.

"We would like to thank our staff and directors for all the hard work they have contributed throughout the season and to thank our supporters for the magnificent backing they have given the team home and away."

Chairman John Fry and Martyn Starnes went on to provide a glowing end of season endorsement of new management team Terry Skiverton and Nathan Jones.

"Terry and Nathan demonstrated considerable guts and determination to accept the roles of player/manager and player/coach respectively at a difficult time for the Club.

"They approached their task with immense enthusiasm and professionalism. Their hard work and that of the players ensured the Club retained its League 1 status and we can look forward to an exciting season in 2009/2010 when Norwich City, Southampton and Charlton will be among the visitors to Huish Park." said John Fry.

"The transfer windows are a huge problem for clubs in the lower leagues and place great restrictions on any management team.

"When Terry and Nathan assumed responsibility for the first team they had limited room to manoeuvre with the window for permanent transfers already closed.

"However, they went to watch a considerable number of games and through their established contacts managed to use the loan system to great effect", added Martyn Starnes

Finally John Fry said: "Terry and Nathan have, in a very short space of time, created a very positive atmosphere around the Club and we are excited about our future prospects.

"Although still at an early stage, season ticket sales have been very encouraging and are well ahead of the same point last year.

"With a young and enthusiastic management team looking to bring entertaining and attractive football to Huish Park we are confident we can make a good impression in what will be an extremely competitive league next season"
