12. Conclusions And Next Steps

Obviously any survey results that show negative thoughts on almost every aspect of a business from their customers has to be of huge concern. However, given the intensity of the responses in certain areas, we'd recommend that the club look at the two highlighted areas that showed the biggest strength of feeling - namely Transparency and Club/Supporter Relations. That's not to say that other comments and criticisms should be ignored, but given these two areas are fundamental, they are doubtless interlinked with some of the other opinions expressed. The persistent number of times that these are referenced in the survey comments show that these are widespread concerns. Dare the club not listen to those concerns?

It is hard to completely read into the viewpoints on the Food Store project and Blue Sky International project, given that the survey was conducted at the time when there was a great deal of change occurring and a lot of information appearing, there's little doubt that moods will have fluctuated during the month. We therefore may repeat the two key questions on these subjects in future surveys to see if opinions on these projects have changed. In doing so, it will also be possible to tell if supporters are becoming more positive or negative about the projects over time.

A second survey also needs to look into matchday attendances at Huish Park; the bread-and-butter of any football business. Given these are customers coming to visit the building where you make your sales, they are fundamentals of any business. If so then why has the club suffered drops in crowds from an average high of over 6,500 in the 2005-06 season, to the extent where around four games this season have had under 3,000 Yeovil fans inside the stadium, and where that barrier threatens to be breached for all fans inside the stadium. Exactly if/when that moment happens, will probably depend upon the final straw that tips the crowd over the edge, but given how close various games have come this season to reaching that point, we felt it warranted special attention. That will follow in due course.

Finally, if you've got to the end of this report, thank you for reading, and thank you to the supporters who contributed to the survey. If the survey results have provoked further thoughts in your head, please do provide comments at the foot of this article, as we've no doubt that it will lead to further debate.

I have been a loyal supporter of YTFC for over 40yrs and have seen many managers and boards but this survey must be the most disturbing yet. I can only pray that the current board take note and not turn a blind eye, because if we should go down a division then the fans would just melt away because at the moment they are made to feel like second class citizens. How can a club build with a plethera of loan players each year. I feel for Terry. I can only say to him ," If you are getting as much help from the board as the fans are then God help you and our club".
