The first formal meeting of the Supporter Liaison Group (SLG) was held on Monday night at Huish Park.

In attendance were Martyn Starnes, Sara Bradley, Martin McConachie, Cyril Pomeroy, Dave Lilly, Richard Culham, Marilyn Cottle and Sharon Swain. Apologies were received from Rich Rendell.

The main topic of discussion for this first meeting was to look at the recent issues affecting supporters on match days, in particular the problems experienced with the marquee.

There have been several issues with the marquee recently involving service, prices, admission criteria and the general comfort of our supporters. Those present at the meeting agreed that at times the experience for supporters using the facility was unacceptable and needed attention.

It was discussed that although it was felt that the service had improved, there were still problems with certain areas such as a visibility of price lists and stock availability. It was stated that these issues would be rectified as soon as possible.

Supporters felt that after seven years without a permanent bar facility, the club needed to do something sooner rather than later to improve facilities for supporters. However all present stressed that they understood the restrictions placed on the club in regards to the covenants.

It was advised that the club had looked into providing an "off-site" facility, but that the cost implications was too great for the club and other sites locally would not permit the sale of alcohol.

All present agreed that in the interim a solution would need to be found "on-site" in addition to the marquee. The club agreed that it was highly desirable for improved facilities "on-site" but that there were a series of issues that made it difficult to acheive in the short term.

In the latter stages of the meeting, other items came up for discussion which included holding a summer football tournament for children, ticket prices for next season and current Community activities. Consultation took place on ticket prices for next season and the club will be making a detailed announcement in the very near future.

Finally, with England participating in this year's World Cup, the club will be offering supporters the opportunity to watch matches at Huish Park and at present are looking into various offers and promotions during this period. Full details will be announced shortly.

The next meeting will be held on Monday 29th March at 5.45pm.
