28 August 2009 : New Supporters' Liaison Group Launched
Yeovil Town Football Club are pleased to announce, after weeks of discussion, the setting up of the SLG (Supporters' Liaison Group), the new group to develop and improve the club / supporter relationship. This has been established to replace the Achieve by Unity Fans Partnership which has been running for two years now.

Speaking about the new initiative to the club's official site, supporter liaison officer Sara Bradley, who has been instrumental in setting up the SLG, explained "In my personal opinion, I feel that the ABUFP has done a good job, however it has limitations. I feel that the new working party is the next step forward and will be more successful in building good relationships between the fan base and the club and developing best practice."

During the time of the ABUFP, there were a number of initiatives put forward by fans that have been implemented including discounted season tickets, the abolition of premium pricing, the improvement of the matchday programme and the website to name a few.

The SLG will meet bi-monthly with Sara for the course of the year with the first meeting arranged for next month. The group's main aim will be to purely focus on matters that directly affect the supporters and their experience at Huish Park.

Sara added "I received an email from a fan suggesting that supporter's representatives serve a longer term in order to get to know each other and gain confidence in their roles. Therefore, each current rep will remain in office until September 2010 at which time new elections will be held."

"We have been unable to hold the six meetings necessary under the terms of reference of the ABUFP due to various reasons and I apologise to the fans for this. I feel that by keeping the reps involved for a further year, they will be given more of a chance to work proactively with the club on supporter-related issues."

The SLG will discuss general agenda items rather than specific questions as this will ensure a more concentrated approach on key areas within the club. Ideas generated from the meetings will be presented to the Executive Committee for consideration at their next meeting. An article regarding the meeting will appear on the club's official website within 48 hours.

Sara closed by saying "I hope the supporters understand my reasoning behind this change as I feel that the SLG will provide the perfect opportunity to highlight any issues or put forward any new ideas that may benefit both the club and its loyal fans."
