Fry issues "Hands off" warning

Yeovil Town Chairman John Fry has issued a "Hands Off" warning to other Football League clubs that are trying lure away their manager.

The warning comes following an approach from League One strugglers Millwall who had a request to talk to Russell turned down over the weekend.

Millwall are struggling at the wrong end of the League One and recently sacked their manager Willie Donachie. Fry's warning was also in the wake of an earlier approach by Carlisle United for Slade's services who received the same answer as Millwall.

Chairman Fry told www.ytfc.net : "I've had an approach from Millwall to speak to Russell and I've turned them down.

"I can also confirm that I was approached by the chief executive of Carlisle United last month and he got a straight answer as well.

"I've told them both that I won't allow any other club to speak to my manager and I think I would be letting our fans and Russell down if I did.

"I have Russell's backing on this and I've got a good understanding with him. I've let him know about the interest.

"He's done a fantastic job here and it's inevitable that he will be in demand but he's got a long term contract here.

"This club is heading for the Championship. It may not be this year, and it may not be next, but the structure we are putting in place at Huish Park is all geared to moving up to the next tier.

"Russell is an integral part of that plan and I am sure that the fans at Huish Park will get behind our manager in their usual noisy manner to let him know he is appreciated down in Yeovil and a major part in the future of this club.
